Lova Lab Editorial Method: Sources, Comparisons, and Limitations

By Lova Lab

This page explains how we build our guides, comparisons, and advice on sex toys, intimate comfort, and sexuality. The goal is to make our recommendations more transparent: what is documented, what is editorial interpretation, and what remains uncertain should be identifiable.

1. We start with intended use, not marketing

To compare a sex toy, we start with the intended use: stimulation area, type of sensation, context, ergonomics, care, and practical constraints. The number of modes or a claim such as "ultra-powerful" is not enough to establish that one product is more suitable.

2. We separate manufacturer data from our analysis

Dimensions, material, power source, water resistance, stated battery life, and features are treated as manufacturer information when they come from the product page or instructions. We distinguish these facts from our editorial interpretation.

When a data point is not documented, we do not estimate it from price, brand reputation, or a product's appearance.

3. Our comparisons use explicit criteria

  • dimensions and ergonomics;
  • type of stimulation;
  • progression and controls;
  • materials and care;
  • power, charging, and stated battery life;
  • water resistance when documented;
  • discretion and practical constraints;
  • available privacy information for connected models.

Criteria vary by product category. A cock ring, rabbit vibrator, and connected stimulator are not assessed using exactly the same framework.

4. Sensations remain individual

A technical characteristic cannot predict an exact sensation. Anatomy, preferences, arousal, and context affect the experience. Our articles therefore avoid turning an editorial observation into a universal promise.

5. Sexual health and our limits

Our sexual-health articles are intended to provide information and help people formulate questions, not to diagnose or replace a consultation. When persistent pain, unusual bleeding, loss of sensitivity, a new symptom, or a post-operative situation warrants assessment, we say so and refer readers to a professional.

A sex toy may support exploration of pleasure or comfort in some contexts; this does not mean it treats the cause of a medical problem.

6. Sources and updates

When appropriate, we add references and distinguish information from external sources from editorial recommendations. Articles may be updated when information, products, or recommendations change.

The update date indicates when the editorial content was revised. It does not mean that a product was physically tested on that date.

7. What Lova Lab does not claim

  • We do not claim to have physically tested every product presented.
  • We do not turn a marketing claim into a scientific measurement.
  • We do not present general medical information as an individual diagnosis.
  • We do not provide undocumented technical characteristics.

Our commitment

Our goal is to make choosing easier to understand: explain the criteria, show the limits of available information, and help each person choose according to their own context.
